Computer Training
The Madisonville Community College Computer Education Center now offers a wide range of computer applications training for individuals as well as groups from business and industry. The following is a list of course offerings. Please note that all classes will be held at the Madisonville Community College North Campus in the John H. Gray Building, Room 237.
- Bits 'n Bytes for Beginners
This course is designed for those with little or no computer experience. Course content includes how to turn on the computer, parts of the computer, how to make and store files, and various uses of the computer.
- Introduction to Windows
Students will learn how to navigate the desktop, use Windows Explorer, customize and copy and move Icons. They will learn to start and close programs, switch between programs, add wallpaper, change screen colors, set up a screen saver, install software, view folders, create a new folder, move / copy a file to another folder, rename a file, delete a file and find a file.
- Introduction to the Internet and Email
Want to surf the "Net"? Now is the time to begin. Find the answer to your questions - what is the Internet and how can you access it? This general introduction explains the world the Internet can open for you and offers tips on various gateway options. This class will offer hands-on experience on the Internet. Don't breakdown on the information super highway. This class on the Internet can change your life - let us show you how.
- Microsoft Word

Prerequisites: Windows training or equivalent knowledge.
This course is designed to provide beginning level skills in Word. You will learn how to enter and delete text, use the mouse; cut, move, copy and paste; change font size and color; change styles, borders, shading and fills; page numbering, and headers and footers. You will also learn to open existing documents, work with multiple documents, delete and print documents.
- Microsoft Word II

Prerequisites: Windows and Introductory Word training or equivalent knowledge
This course is designed for the intermediate Word user who has a strong working knowledge of Word. Topics in this class include: working with bullets, symbols and styles, using sections, linking and embedding, templates, tables, mail merge and more.
- Microsoft Excel

Prerequisites: Windows training or equivalent knowledge.
This course introduces the fundamentals and basic concepts of Excel. Learn to create, format and print worksheets, manipulate data, and work with formulas and functions.
- Microsoft Excel II

Prerequisites: Windows and Introductory Excel training or equivalent knowledge
This course is designed for the intermediate Excel user who has a strong working knowledge of Excel. Topics in this class include: applying formats between sheets, split screens, protecting data, linking and embedding, merging, goal seeking, drag and plot, charting and more.
- Microsoft Powerpoint

Prerequisites: Windows training or equivalent knowledge
This course presents basic concepts of creating and modifying presentations using Power Point. Students will work with presentations, create graphs and organizational charts, work with text, drawings, clip art, and colors, use masters and templates, and use slide show transitions and special effects.
- Microsoft Access

Prerequisites: Windows training or equivalent knowledge
Take this course and you will learn to design a database, work with tables, customize tables, set field properties, use queries, design basic reports, and locate and import data.
- Quickbooks Pro

Prerequisites: Windows training or equivalent knowledge
This course is an introductory course designed to provide new Quick Books users with a basic knowledge of entering data and utilizing the following modules: payroll, invoicing, check register, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. A basic understanding of bookkeeping is preferred but not required.
