Our Mission
The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs focuses on four major areas in the administration of resource development activities that facilitate implementation of the strategic goals of Madisonville Community College. They are:
- Planned Giving and Endowment Management
-
Madisonville Community College currently has $6 million in endowment principle. These funds support a variety of college initiatives, including arts programming, scholarships, the Trover Library, diversity, and equipment maintenance. The main source of endowment principle growth are donations of a deferred, pre-determined nature, and may be associated with trusts, insurance gifts, gifts of property and general wills. The Development Office offers seminars on a recurring basis that have consistent themes of the idea of charitable giving as one component of an overall estate portfolio.
- Annual Giving
Annual giving programs are implemented so the college may obtain funds for specific, short-term objectives such as annual scholarship funds, general support for new academic programs, and support for innovative grant initiatives. Annual giving may be facilitated through auctions, golf tournaments, phonathons, or general one-on-one requests.
- Solicitation of Multi-Year Major Gifts
Madisonville Community College conducts 18-20 major solicitations (defined as $10,000 or above) during the program year. These solicitations focus on equipment funding, the Arts Center Endowment and annual sponsorships, and gifts devoted to specific program areas such as Allied Health, Title III grant development and support, and professional development.
- Alumni and Public Affairs
Madisonville Community College is committed to integrating an effective alumni outreach program into the overall college public relations program, as well as providing effective advocacy for college priorities at the local and regional level. The development office keeps in contact with alumni and elected officials through newsletters, media releases, and special events.
