QEP (Quality Enhancement Plan) Committee

The Plan document states, "It is the goal of MCC's QEP to improve the critical thinking skills of students across the curriculum using active learning strategies."

The committee promotes this goal with various activities.  The committee trains faculty in the practice of critical thinking.  The committee studies how to assess improvement in critical thinking, trying to learn to measure the improvement to then determine the level of improvement the students achieved in critical thinking.

Contact Greg Jewell or David Schuermer for more information on critical thinking at MCC.

The subcommittee for assessment works to promote the use of active learning strategies in the classroom. The committee promotes classroom research as a method for measuring the impact of criticl thinking gains by students in classes.  To this end the subcommittee devised a form for defining a classroom research to help analyze the success or failure of an active learning strategy that promotes critical thinking..

I contributed an example for faculty to use as a template for their own work.  The output includes the form from the subcommittee, the project I was preparing as my classroom research, and the form completed with  information from my research project.  These documents may be printed or downloaded by clicking the appropriate link in the left margin.
