Program Description

At Madisonville Community College, you will take in-depth criminal justice / law enforcement courses as well as Writing I and II, Psychology, Communications, Government, Sociology, and other important educational courses to assist you on the job. When you have finished, you will be able to understand the theory, principles, and techniques used by police, court administrators, institutional corrections officers, and community supervision officers. You will also have the first increment in the process of to a Pre-law degree program that will subsequently lead to law school. You will know how to perform traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, follow due process and procedures, collect and preserve evidence, arrest and prosecute violators of the law, and supervise professionals in criminal justice fields.

Employment Opportunities

Careers in Criminal Justice include local or state police, vehicle enforcement, institutional corrections, correctional supervision, and court administration. Get an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, an Associate Degree with a Law Enforcement Option, or and Associate Degree with a Corrections Option and you can expect starting salaries, depending on the area, ranging from the upper $20,000 to low $30,000 range plus additional benefits such as a vehicle, health and life insurance, needed equipment and an excellent retirement package.
